Auto-close quiet threads - with a heads-up first
When a thread goes silent, the bot posts a pre-close notice so the member can keep it open just by replying. If it's still quiet after your auto-close timeframe, the thread closes itself. You can restrict reminders and notices to your opening hours, so nobody gets pinged overnight.

Set expectations with a live wait time
Show members an estimated wait time right in their thread. The estimate adapts automatically based on how quickly your team has been clearing recent threads, with a cushion so you under-promise and over-deliver, and a cap so it never shows an unhelpful number.

Asker-and-staff only, without closing the thread
Turn on “Only the original poster and staff can write” and the bot removes messages from anyone else - keeping each thread focused on the person who asked. The thread stays open the whole time; the member can keep talking to your team, while drive-by “+1” replies are quietly cleared.
Off-topic replies removed
Messages from anyone but the OP and staff are deleted automatically.
Optionally tell the member why
The bot can DM them to open their own thread for help.
This is not the same as locking. Locking a thread (lock-until-claimed or lock-on-close) stops new messages entirely; this write restriction keeps the thread open and only removes replies from people who aren't the original poster or staff.
